Liberland has never been closer to reality

For the first time in the history, thanks to unceasing pressure from Liberlanders on the police, Liberlanders can access the territory of Liberland.

It took 8 years of sustained efforts to transition from the police arresting everyone for entering the territory, to the police trying to prevent us from staying in the territory, to the police trying to prevent us from building permanent structures in the territory. This whole change happened since June 2023.

Come and help with the next step – establishing permanent settlement.

You won’t forget this

The formation of a new country doesn’t happen twice in a lifetime.

There are challenges and situations awaiting you that you haven’t seen yet. It’s not easy. On the other hand, it will give you memories that you will tell everyone. Ask any seasoned settler, and they will tell you it’s worth it.

Be ready

Challenging conditions – a deep forest full of boars – mosquitos in the summer – no infrastructure – cold and rain in the winter – police persecution – make it hard both mentally and physically to stay for more than a week.

Don’t worry, you are not alone. Experienced settlers will guide you.

The blockade weakened but continues

The police currently block any access other than by foot or bicycle. It’s a 2-hour walk or 30-minute ride from Liberbase to Liberland, approximately 6 Km. Two-thirds of the way is asphalt road, then forest path covered with stones.

Police check your identity every time, on the way to Liberland.

If you are a non-Schengen passport holder, the police will ask you to follow them to the police station, where they will ask you questions (in a friendly manner). Regardless of who you are or what you will answer, they will tell you to leave Croatia in 7 days, followed by a 90-day restriction from entering Croatia. Liberland is actively working on resolving this situation and hopefully, it will change in the upcoming months.

It takes legal victories against police persecution in front of Croatian courts. It’s a slow process.

If you hold a Schengen passport, the police can’t legally prevent you from staying in Liberland.

FAQ

I am ready to come. Where should I arrive?

Your first stop is Liberbase, where you can get to know the other settlers. Please don’t go to Liberland directly for the first time on your own. The police tend to give misleading information when they see a new face.

What can I help with?

Virtually any skill, knowledge, and hand can help. Please let us know when you would like to come and something about you and let’s discuss this further individually.

Am I going to earn my Liberland citizenship?

It is not clear under which conditions the Liberland government currently offers citizenship and/or Merits in exchange for contributions in the settlement. Please contact info@liberland.org to clarify.

What should I pack with me?

Please bring: smartphone, headlight, power bank, sleeping bag, sleeping mattress, clothes matching the current temperatures, and in the summer an anti-mosquito hat.

Is camping in Liberland allowed?

A recent development regarding this matter in front of the Croatian courts basically permitted Liberlanders to camp in the territory of Liberland.

Is the police violent?

We are a strictly peaceful organization and although we have had a few escalated situations with the police, so far both sides managed to stick to words.

The vast majority of the time the police officers are friendly, and we chat with them like with friends.

Can I get in trouble with the police?

Generally, there is no reason why a Liberlander should get in trouble with the police, unless they violate Croatian laws, which the police are currently imposing on the Liberland territory as well.

In any case, the Liberland government provides free legal assistance to settlers.

Are the locals friendly?

Liberlanders are trying to maintain an image of friendly people, and the locals are getting used to it. They hope Liberland can bring more prosperity to the region, which is relatively underdeveloped considering EU standards.

For now, we simply smile at everyone. 😁

Can I bring my kid(s) and/or pets?

Liberbase – yes. Please keep in mind these recommendations.

Liberland – yes. Please keep in mind the camping conditions, wild boars, and the 6km distance that can currently only be transcended by bicycle or by foot.
